“A Long Play With…” e един завладяващ албум на ултра “hip” гаражните крале THE FRANTIC V от Гърция. Излизането му през 2004 г. бележи 10-тата им годишнина! (+ English version)
След издаването на известен брой сингли за различни лейбъли (от Австрия до Англия) плюс 10″ мини албум за италианската компания Misty Lane Records, това е техният първи LP албум. Това е един страхотен гараж шейк от 60-те, който може да бъде чут в днешно време. Вливащ живот фарфиса орган, нахакани вокали и дрънчене с дайре е техният запазен саунд с което те доставят още една здравословна доза, за всички вас гаражни хипстъри!
“Room 409” е отварящото парче и партито започва с този страшно як, жив инструментал с препратки към сърф музиката! Следват серия парчета като “She Lied“, “Close Your Eyes“, “I’m Asking Why” и “Good Lovin‘” които са част от същия свеж, танцувален “филмов саундтрак”! Двете парчета “Girl Don’t Play (With Me)” и “You’re Gonna Be Mine” идват от раните дни на групата и за щастие вече имаме възможност да им се наслаждаваме на винил! “Quinta” e доза сакс-оргазмик инструментал със средно темпо, най-подходящо за рекламно парче на нов порно филм!!! “Hang Up” на знаменитите Wailers (Tacoma, Washington 1958-1969) е ценна кавър версия на пънк парче от 60-те, заради убийствено бавното темпо, което със сигурност ще размаже от кеф всички бийтници наоколо! Последното, но не маловажно, “It’s Been So Long” е фолк пънк бисер, който напомня за изгубените тинейджъри от сцената в Нова Англия през 60-те, както и за баладите от шведската гаражна сцена на 80-те и 90-те!
Техния първи дългосвирещ албум е предназначен да бъде вечна класика!!!
“A Long Play With…” is a fab release by THE FRANTIC V, the ultra hip garage kings of Greece in 2004, which also marked their 10th year anniversary in the garagedom! After numerous singles on various labels (from Australia to United Kingdom) plus a 10″ mini album on the Italian Misty Lane Records, this is their first and brand new album! Expect nothing less than the best and most swinging 60’s garage “shakers” to be heard nowadays. Swirling Farfisa organ, snotty vocals and jangles with tambourines is their trademark sound and this time they deliver another healthy dose for all of you garage hipsters!
“Room 409” is the opening track and the party begins with this ultra-cool swinging instrumental with lots of surf references! Next to it, a series of tunes such as “She Lied“, “Close Your Eyes“, “I’m Asking Why” and “Good Lovin‘” is part of the same swinging movie “soundtrack”! Both tracks “Girl Don’t Play (With Me)” and “You’re Gonna Be Mine” come from the band’s early days and luckily we have the opportunity to enjoy them on vinyl! “Quinta” is a sax-orgasmic drenched mid-tempo instrumental, the most suitable titles track of a new porn movie!!! As far as “Hang Up” of the fabulous Wailers is concerned, it is about a killer low tempo 60’s punk cover-version that will surely satisfy all the beatniks around! Last but not least, “It’s Been So Long” is a folk punk gem that recalls all those forgotten teenagers of The New England scene back in the 60’s as well as the ballads of the Swedish garage scene of the 80’s/90’s!
Their first “Long Play” is destined to be a timeless classic!!!
